Tim Gramp Wines

ABOUT TIM GRAP

Nestled in the hamlet of Leasingham (2 kilometres south of Watervale), the Tim Gramp winery has served as a production and cellar door sales base since its purchase in 1996. The four acre Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard, winery complex and old stone cottage provided the perfect opportunity for Tim Gramp to pursue his winemaking direction and philosophy.

Following 1996, many developments have taken place at "Gramp headquarters". These include extensive renovations to the old cottage, a total refit to the winery, a new crushing facility and crusher/destemmer, housing of an old basket press, and the planting of a new Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard.

This vineyard has been designed using a unique Italian "Sylvoz" trellising system - the first of its kind in the Clare Valley. Other recent developments such as the use of screw caps for the entire range of Tim Gramp wines represent an important blending of modern wine making practices with traditional methods such as basket pressing that have withstood the test of time. This, combined with the best quality fruit sourced from the best performing regions, results in wines of outstanding quality and consistency.

All Tim Gramp wines have been handcrafted from only the best quality parcels of fruit that display both definitive regional and varietal characteristics.Although based in the Clare Valley, the home of some of Australia's finest Riesling, Tim also sources top quality Shiraz and Grenache from McLaren Vale, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon from the Gilbert Valley as well as his own estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.

This superb quality fruit is basket pressed to extract every ounce of flavour and character. Red wines are carefully aged in high quality American and French oak barrels supplied from a famous Barossa Valley cooperage. Tim has formulated a unique 'recipe' with the cooper to ensure a significant point of difference with the maturation process.

The result includes the following portfolio of award winning wines that have been made for maximum enjoyment!
